I'm Eager, Young, and Starry-Eyed...

My student's grades are submitted, the afternoon sun is shining over the mountains, and my mind is drifting to next week's adventure to places both new and old. I met with my advisor earlier this week to lay out research plans for the summer and somewhere in our discussions our conversation drifted to song writing versus science writing. We began deconstructing the process of each and what makes a good song and in that moment I knew I had made a right life choice years ago accepting this position in Vancouver in her lab.

Sometimes a little nod from life reminding you that you're going in the right direction is all you need to make the ordinary seem exceptional.

The song below doesn't hurt either.

Shakey Graves is no stranger to these parts.

Happy weekend. Enjoy.
