Graduate School Update: PhD Candidacy...

I realize that it's been quite some time since I've given a proper update on grad school happenings - mostly because I've been lost in my books with not much to tell. However, I am so very happy to announce that yesterday I passed my PhD comprehensive exam!!!! I can't begin to express how excited/happy/relieved I am. A HUGE sigh of relief. One step closer to the finish line. Classes are complete, the proposal is approved, and now the comps exam is passed. I can finally get back to research mode!

Also, I have not forgotten the post I promised explaining my fascination with maps and spatial patterns, how science brought me to Vancouver, and the ins and outs of my PhD research. It is on the way. Thanks so much for your patience.

In the meantime, here is a strange little tune I wrote this afternoon - inspired by this RadioLab podcast on the deathwatch beetle.
